We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join our lab in investigating mechanisms of activation of inflammasome pathways in models of sterile injury and redox stress. Our lab is part of the general surgery department and we are interested in all aspects of surgical trauma and hemorrhagic shock, as well as sepsis and critical illness. The postdoc will work on an NIH R01 funded project that focuses on cell type specific inflammasome activation, and in particular on the role of the inflammasome in the liver and hepatocytes. The project focuses also on mitochondrial biology, autophagy and mechanisms of cell death, and is a good mix of pathology, cell signaling and innate immunity.

Our labs are located on the main campus of the University of Pittsburgh just to the east of downtown Pittsburgh. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine stands among the nation's leading centers of basic and applied biomedical research. Postdocs are vital members of our institutional culture - valued and respected for their significant contributions to the university’s research enterprise. A customized high quality and enriching postdoctoral training experience is assured within our multicultural and multidisciplinary academic health sciences community. Pittsburgh is also consistently ranked as one of "the most livable cities" in the United States.
